Re: wikipedia book?
Technically, it'd be impossible despite size simply because of the audio and video stored. Plus, the huge amount of information, pictures, and size would make the price in tens of thousands if not higher.
First of all, there are 3 million articles. Each page is approximately 3600 characters, or an average of 720 words, a bit over 2 pages (again, on average). So that's over 6 million pages. LOLWUT

Re: wikipedia book?
Except that that's nearly impossible; even though you have ISP's, even if all of those went out, the internet is just a big network of computers. The only viable way, other than destroying the earth (although even that might not work due to satellites etc.), is to completely remove energy from existence. But in that case, you'd have much, MUCH bigger problems, from universal collapse to the universe simply being frozen in time, because no energy could be expelled, moved, etc.
tl;dr you can't remove the internet.

Re: wikipedia book?
That would need to be a freakishly MASSIVE EMP. Aside from that, any objects in a Faraday cage are completely immune. I can guarantee you at least a few people in the world have a computer in a Faraday cage. In case you don't know what a Faraday cage is (I don't blame you; it's a somewhat advanced topic), look at the Wikipedia article here.
...
Speaking of that, when I get a house and stuff, I want to make it a giant Faraday cage... Although the maintenance would be terrible, and just a tiny hole could mean, if an EMP was detonated, then everything would go out just like everyone else... But still, whoa.

Re: wikipedia book?
And how would that happen? Also, you don't need a router to have internet (use someone else's router! XD jk). All you need is a computer that has wireless network (actually, the wireless isn't needed, but it's easier) capabilities and a server, and bam, internet.

Re: wikipedia book?
I said before:
;D
EDIT: That "nuclear warfare" is assuming every living thing on earth has perished. There are still people on the ISS. Although they wouldn't survive very long, the internet would still exist.
Not to mention the fact that if no one is alive anymore, then they won't need to read a wikipedia book O_o

Re: wikipedia book?
LIKE I SAID, SATELLITES THAT AREN'T ON THE EARTH! AND PEOPLE WHO AREN'T ON EARTH!
NEEDLESS TO SAY, IF "EVERYTHING IS DESTROYED D:", THEN THERE'S NO NEED TO READ A WIKIPEDIA BOOK!

Re: wikipedia book?
Solar flares affect electronics in exactly the same way EMPs do. Therefore, anything in a Faraday cage will be protected.hywel45 wrote:what about a solar flare? they can kill electrical stuffDot145 wrote:That would need to be a freakishly MASSIVE EMP.
